Terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and the City of Springfield Democratic Committee (“the Committee”). The Committee gives you access to CaucusIQ on the condition that you follow them. By ticking the box and clicking “I agree”, you sign this agreement electronically and agree to be bound by it.

CaucusIQ holds voter registration information from the Springfield County Board of Elections, plus notes, contacts and other details added by the City of Springfield Democratic Committee. New York law says this information may not be used for non-election purposes (Election Law section 3-103(5)), so you may use it for election purposes only. Using it for anything else breaks the law as well as these terms.

1. Election purposes only

You may use CaucusIQ only for the Committee's election work: canvassing, phone banking, literature drops, petitioning, get-out-the-vote, voter registration, recruiting volunteers, and contacting voters about Democratic candidates, campaigns and the Committee.

You may not use it for anything else, including:

  • commercial purposes, such as sales, marketing, fundraising for a business, or debt collection;
  • personal reasons, such as looking up neighbors, friends, family, coworkers or anyone else out of curiosity;
  • harassing, threatening, intimidating or embarrassing anyone, or discouraging anyone from voting;
  • employment, housing, credit, insurance or legal decisions about anyone;
  • work for any other party, group or campaign that the Committee hasn't approved.

2. Keep the information inside the Committee

  • Don't copy, download, photograph, screenshot, print or write down voter information except as your assigned election work needs (for example, a walk list for your turf).
  • Don't share, sell, rent, publish or give voter information to anyone who isn't authorized to use CaucusIQ.
  • Return or destroy any printed or copied lists when the work they were made for is done.

3. Keep your login to yourself

  • Your login is for you alone. Don't share your password, authenticator app or backup codes, and don't let anyone else use CaucusIQ while you're signed in.
  • Sign out on shared computers, and keep your phone locked.
  • Tell a CaucusIQ Admin right away if you think someone else has used your login, or if voter information has been lost, stolen or shared by mistake.

4. Be accurate and respectful

  • Record only what you actually saw or were told. Don't enter false information.
  • Respect voters who ask not to be contacted again, and record it.
  • Look only at the voters and screens your assigned work needs.

5. Activity is recorded

CaucusIQ keeps a record of sign-ins, exports, and changes to voter records, including who made them and when. Committee Admins review this record.

6. If these terms are broken

The Committee may suspend or remove your access at any time, and may report misuse to the Board of Elections or law enforcement, and may take legal action to stop misuse or recover voter information.

7. When you stop

If you stop volunteering or leave your Committee role, stop using CaucusIQ and destroy any voter information you still have. Your access may end without notice when your role changes.

8. Changes to these terms

The Committee may update these terms. When it does, you'll be asked to agree again before you can keep using CaucusIQ.

9. Your electronic signature and the record of it

Ticking the box and clicking “I agree” is your electronic signature, with the same effect as signing on paper (New York State Technology Law, Article 3). CaucusIQ records the date and time, the version of these terms, your IP address and your browser as proof that you agreed.

10. General

  • These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any dispute about them will be heard in the courts of Springfield County, New York.
  • CaucusIQ is provided as is. The Committee doesn't promise that it's always available or that the information in it is complete or correct.
  • These terms are the whole agreement between you and the Committee about using CaucusIQ.
  • If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • These terms don't replace your duties under the law. Election Law and other laws apply to you whether or not these terms do.
  • Your duties under sections 2, 6 and 7 continue after your access ends.
